Chevrolet Camaro set to replace the Corvette as the Indy 500 Pace car

It was announced on Thursday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway that the new Chevrolet Camaro will be the pace car for this years race. The car was unveiled with silver livery and red graphics. This replaces the Chevrolet Corvette that has been used for the last 5 years. The Camaro has been the pace car on 4 other occasions but not since 1993.

The special pace Camaro will be powered by a 6.3-liter V8 producing 426 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. This will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The car will be pretty much standard stock with only paint and lights added. The race is due to take place on Memorial weekend on 24th May.
